OUR STORY
The SYCE Story…
In 2014, After a year of owning and operating Sound Theory Studios in Landover, MD, Lance realized after recording many local artists, a majority of them had little or no performance experience, in a performance driven entertainment market. Shortly after recognizing the need in the DMV hip-hop market, he was reintroduced to an old High School classmate, Jason. From this meeting, the seed was planted and it was agreed upon that there was a need for credible, consistent performance venues for local up and coming hip hop artists. Jason invited Lance to an art event which he curated at The Layla Lounge in Washington, DC, and from there the vision blossomed!
Sending You Creative Entertainment aka “SYCE,” was the result of the creators building a hub for themselves to pursue their dreams in a rising entertainment market. The word “SYCE” affectionately derives from DC slang meaning “to enhance; make better” which is our overall goal. On September 24, 2014, the first “SYCE Series” artist showcase occurred, highlighting a competition based showcase series, giving the winner a custom SYCE Hoodie with their Instagram name and date of victory on the back, 3 hours of free studio time, and a crown titling them the winner King/Queen of the DMV. The SYCE Series continued every other week for approximately 2 years until it was decided to take time away and determine how to provide more for artists in an underserved community.
Dedicated to providing artists more resources locally in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia Area), SYCE was able to obtain the necessary tools and skills to rebrand as a 100% Black Owned Independent music company which provides label services to artists, managers, and labels. SYCE is a member of the American Association for Independent Musicians (A2IM) via their inaugural Blacks In Music Accelerator (BIMA) fellowship. SYCE offers Music Production, Mixing, Mastering, Music Distribution, Video Distribution, Royalty Collection, Artist Consultation, and more to service artists, managers, and labels.
